Replacing A Handbag Turnclasp

Step 1 Check that the back plate is compatible with the existing front plate.
Step 2 We would unstitch a seam and fix the plate but you might find it easier to cut the lining. This can be very neat if executed correctly.
Step 3 Once you have made a neat cut inside the lining, you will probably see the patch that covers the back of the catch, peel this off.
Step 4 The next step is to lift the legs of the broken clasp (sometimes there are screws instead. Take the backplate off and release the broken clasp.
Step 4 Once the old clasp is off, offer the new one up and mark the holes required for the spikes on the front panel. If you are happy with the position, make the holes (I use a small blade) and push the new clasp on.
Step 4 Put the backplate on (I have pushed the spikes right through the lining and held it all in place with the back plate but its your choice) and bend the spikes over, to trap the backplate (and possibly lining) in position.
Step 4 Patch the backplate with a piece of material or stitch it up (I have had great results with some thin leather and double sided tape on the backplate). Finished

CUSTOMERS SAY

Thank you for your help and for providing such a brilliant service! All the best, Malcolm

Malcolm W., Welwyn
Today I received the martingale for horse brasses I ordered recently. It arrived promptly - thank you. My late wife was very British, we met when I was serving in the US Air Force. We married and returned home here to the US. She brought with her several horse brasses as a bit of ol’ England. Many of these brasses were mounted on cheap martingales made of a paper material. I am going thru them and re-hanging the brasses on your fine leather martingales. I’ve done several over the last couple years, a few more to go!

Dear Paul & Sara, Just to let you know that the liner I ordered arrived today - we're currently based in Oslo. Very many thanks for such a speedy service.

The liner is super snuggly but, even so, I think the temperatures here, heavy snow and minus 19 forecast for the weekend, have finally outmatched my trusty Barbour and I'll now have to embrace the michelin-man padded down look, at least until the Spring!

Seasons greetings.

best, Jackie

Hi Paul,

I received the Foldaway Supaseat today and although I have not had the opportunity to test it thoroughly, I think it will serve the purpose for which it was envisaged perfectly: I am an amateur (very) birdwatcher and can only walk very short distances with a stick. The Supaseat can double for me as stick and seat while trying to get the best out of nature!

As an aside, I've noted that Saddler.co.uk also purvey some quite attractive walking sticks, so I could well be coming back to you in the not too distant future. Until then, my thanks

Best Regards
