Ash Knob Stick Scorched and Polished

data-pin-do="buttonPin" data-pin-config="none">Ash Knob Stick Scorched and Polished

Product Code: 3589

These traditional knob walking sticks are perhaps the most rustic in appearance of all walking sticks. They almost seem to have been freshly cut from the hedgerow. Read on to find out how they are cultivated in reality. This example is made from ash and has been reduced, scorched and polished to give it a comparitively refined appearance. This stick feels lovely and smooth to the touch. We have shown 3 different sticks here to illustrate the variation in wood grain.

This walking stick can be cut down in size as required. Please select the required walking stick length from the pull down menu below. Please note that we will come as close as we can to the measurement you select but as this height includes the ferrule and thicknesses of ferrule vary, your walking stick my vary by up to 1/2 inch from the height selected. Please note once a stick has been cut to size we are unable to accept it back, so please be sure you are choosing the correct length.

To measure someone for a walking stick, ask them to stand with their weight evenly on both feet, looking straight ahead and with their arms relaxed by their sides. You then need to measure from the floor to the prominent bone of the wrist. This is the length of walking stick required. Please note this is just a rule of thumb. If the person has special needs, they may need to be measured by a medical professional. Alternatively they may have personal preferences for a longer or shorter walking stick.

Coppicing is a traditional forestry technique and the method used to produce rustic walking sticks. A deciduous tree such as ash or chestnut is sawn in two, whereupon the part remaining rooted in the ground produces a number of new shoots. Within a few years, these grow large enough to form walking sticks. They are then cut from the tree and the process begins again.

The rounded handle of a knob stick is fashioned from part of the original tree's trunk; they do in fact grow upside down. Thumbsticks are grown in the same way except that the V-shaped handle is formed by a naturally occurring fork in the new shoot.

Coppicing is the ultimate technique for sustainable woodland!

Bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule type C
bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule There are several different types of walking stick ferrule, most of which are listed here. Each ferrule is available in a number of different diameters, simply choose your preferred width from the pull down menu below. This bell shaped ferrule is our most popular shape. It is made of black rubber and has a steel washer insert. For people who use their walking stick in ernest, rather than just as a fashion accessory, good tread is vital. To ensure that your walking stick does not slip on wet or smooth surfaces, it is important to replace the rubber ferrule frequently. For those who have a decorative cane with a horn or metal ferrule, serious consideration should be given to covering this with a rubber ferrule, if the cane is to be used for support.

Dear Sara and Paul

Many thanks for the prompt shipment of the wheels I ordered.

They fit almost perfectly. My cabin bag is an Antler about 15 years old.

Iíve had to drill holes 5mm further up than the old ones, the 2 vertical lugs are higher than the old ones.

A minor fix which I have successfully done.

It is my wifeís favourite bag so hopefully get another 15 years wear.

Many thanks

Peter M., U.K.

I will go ahead and register. You all have been great to buy from - In the last month in addition to my current order I have bought my wife a jacket, encouraged friends to do the same which resulted in a new jacket for a co-worker, and a friend just told me he bought 3 jackets just this morning as well!

I'll definitely continue to go to y'all first in the future!
