Natural Oak Crook Peeled Walking Stick

data-pin-do="buttonPin" data-pin-config="none">Natural Oak Crook Peeled Walking Stick

Product Code: 3503

The traditional crook walking stick, not in chestnut this time but made from very slow growing, hard oak. The bark has been peeled to create a walking stick that is very distinctive in appearance with its detailed grain and lovely rich colour.

This walking stick can be cut down in size as required. Please select the required walking stick length from the pull down menu below. Please note that we will come as close as we can to the measurement you select but as this height includes the ferrule and thicknesses of ferrule vary, your walking stick my vary by up to 1/2 inch from the height selected.

To measure someone for a walking stick, ask them to stand with their weight evenly on both feet, looking straight ahead and with their arms relaxed by their sides. You then need to measure from the floor to the prominent bone of the wrist. This is the length of walking stick required. Please note this is just a rule of thumb. If the person has special needs, they may need to be measured by a medical professional. Alternatively they may have personal preferences for a longer or shorter walking stick.

Coppicing is a traditional forestry technique and the method used to produce rustic walking sticks. A deciduous tree such as ash or chestnut is sawn in two, whereupon the part remaining rooted in the ground produces a number of new shoots. Within a few years, these grow large enough to form walking sticks. They are then cut from the tree and the process begins again.

The rounded handle of a knob stick is fashioned from part of the original tree's trunk; they do in fact grow upside down.

Thumbsticks are grown in the same way except that the V-shaped handle is formed by a naturally occurring fork in the new shoot.

Coppicing is the ultimate technique for sustainable woodland!

Bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule type C
bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule There are several different types of walking stick ferrule, most of which are listed here. Each ferrule is available in a number of different diameters, simply choose your preferred width from the pull down menu below. This bell shaped ferrule is our most popular shape. It is made of black rubber and has a steel washer insert. For people who use their walking stick in ernest, rather than just as a fashion accessory, good tread is vital. To ensure that your walking stick does not slip on wet or smooth surfaces, it is important to replace the rubber ferrule frequently. For those who have a decorative cane with a horn or metal ferrule, serious consideration should be given to covering this with a rubber ferrule, if the cane is to be used for support.

Customers Say

Thank you, order received this morning.

It was ordered as a replacement for one of an old pair whose centre strap had broken. The remaining old one now looks really old and decrepit alongside the bright new one. So much so that I am retiring it and have ordered another replacement for it.

Tony T., Lancashire
Just to let you know, the whangee umbrella has arrived, safe and sound, and it's GREAT! Amazingly fast and high-quality service, sir! Thanks very much!!

John G., New Zealand

Many thanks - order received 9/2/11 - son was very pleased with his present (and worth the wait!)

Jeff O., Hampshire
Thank you for my order, I have put on the replacement wheel on my suitcase and it is a good as new, cheaper than a new suitcase.

Patricia R., Leeds
Your site was recommended by a friend of mine, its great to see smaller companies with that personal touch. I needed a more robust walking cane for the gentlemanly art of Bartitsu. My friend pointed out that I only need request a thicker cane from Cox The Saddler and you would provide one without any fuss and you have done so to my delight!

It's the attention to detail that makes a good business into a great business. I'll be recommending you to my students and friends for canes in the future.

Neil J., Ealing
Suitcase repaired - thanks for your help.
Richard M., Barnet
Now that's what I call quick service!! Thanks so much. I'm restoring my mum's brasses so she can have them with her in her new care home. She's a bit hacked off with life at present so you can imagine how thrilled she was when I found I could replace the perished leather for her and that they will soon be in display in her room. Thanks again for your fantastic service.

Hugh M., Billingham
Thank you so much for such great service, even for such a tiny order as my two Sam Browne studs. Next time I need any leather goods or repair supplies you'll be the first people I think of! Kind regards.

Simon P., London
I received parcel yesterday, thanks for great service.
