Product Code: Z239ZL

This Zippo lighter has a matt navy blue finish and carries the Zippo logo. A real classic.

Read on to find out more about Zippo lighters and why we like them.

Zippo was created in 1932 by George Blaisdell, an oilman who watched a friend struggling to light a woman’s cigarette on a breezy day. In the small town of Bradford, Philadelphia, Blaisdell tinkered away, and built a small chimney around a wick to produce a windproof lighter. He gave it the famous lifetime guarantee and called the company Zippo.

Zippo's first location was a small machine shop on the second floor of the Richerson & Pryde garage on Bolyston Street in downtown Bradford, Philadelphia. The Zippo Windproof Lighter sign originally painted on the multi-paned window of the shop has become a symbol of Zippo's early days.

During World War II Blaisdell, a very smart promoter, shipped hundreds of Zippos to generals and war correspondents. Word of the lighter's durability and dependability spread, and the U.S. government ordered every lighter the Zippo Manufacturing Company could produce between 1943 and 1945.

When Blaisdell died in 1978 Zippo went to his two daughters, Harriett Wick and Sarah Dorn. They knew the business quite well having grown up stuffing cotton wicks into Zippos. Today their children work for the company too.

Save a few minor changes in the flint wheel and case finishes, the Zippo remains nearly exactly as George Blaisdell created it over 70 years ago. Today, the Zippo brand makes tape measures, knives, money clips, writing instruments and key holders, all engravable and personalizable to the owner. The American-made quality and Lifetime Guarantee makes the Zippo lighter a valuable collector's item around the world, with collectors' clubs in England, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and of course, the United States.

CUSTOMERS SAY

Many thanks for your unbelievably prompt processing and delivery, another christmas present off the list!

David M., Broxbourne
Goods received. Great quality much better than any other passport wallets on the market.

Kevin K., East Kilbride
Hi Paul and Sara, Just to say a huge thank you for sending the replacement Leather Seat for my Gamebird Shooting Stick. It is a perfect fit and has returned my stick to its original comfort. Many thanks again for your prompt response.

We shall certainly let others know about your company.

Kindest Regards

Michael C., Kent
Great service. It arrived today and is perfect. This is the second time I've bought from you and I'm really pleased. Thank you.

Jenny J., Surrey
I just wanted to say that I have received my order. Thank you to you and your colleagues for such prompt delivery and I am extremely pleased with the replacement strap. It's for my briefcase that has sentimental value as my Dad bought it for my mum many years ago when she started her own business but lost the strap at some point.
All the very best. Many thanks.

Sue C., London
Thanks so much for the speedy dispatch of my order, which I received today. Thanks also for the jam. What a lovely touch. I bought a designer handbag on eBay while visiting the US this summer, but I knew that I'd have to fix some of the hardware. I found your website while I was in the US and decided to take the chance. I'm so glad I did. Thanks very much.

Joanne G., Stamford, Lincs.
Hi Guys, Item received. I'm very pleased and not to mention a very efficient transaction. Thank You.

Charles O., London
Thank you received this morning even though not paid for until yesterday p.m. Great service. Thanks,

Glenda N., Devon
Many thanks. The key arrived today and makes a good second-hand case into an excellent one, thanks to you. I appreciate all your good service and courtesy and have recommended you to all my friends and family.
Lindsay H., Belfast
Hi Paul, Just to confirm my purchase arrived bright and early yesterday. Really impressed with the quality of product and your company service from start to finish, as well as the best price I could find.
I will definitely be using you again!
