Double bridle arrangements are used to achieve finer positioning of the head. A curb bit (or Weymouth) is added to the snaffle (which is now called a bradoon). The action on the snaffle is exactly as it is when it is used alone, the curb (or Weymouth) introduces poll and curb groove pressure. The result of pressure on the curb groove (under the horse's chin), is a pivoting action, causing the head to tilt into the conventional 'on the bit' position.The Weymouth bit is attatched to the main headpiece of the bridle and the bradoon is attached to the sliphead.
Double bridles are always used with two reins. The Weymouth (or curb) rein is normally thinner than the bradoon,
this helps the rider differentiate between the two reins. Please note, the bradoon should be 1/4'' to 1/2''
bigger than the Weymouth bit (the latter should be your horse's regular bit size).

How to correctly adjust the height of your new bit. It is best to do most of the adjustment before putting the bridle on the horse so, put the bit onto the bridle then hold it up to the side of the horse's face. Then put the top of the headpiece level with the top of the horse's head (poll) and the mouthpiece of the bit level with the corner of the mouth. Next adjust
the bridle to fit. The cheekpieces should be adjusted, so that the bit lies in the correct position in the horse's mouth, i.e. leaving a little wrinkle at each corner of the mouth. Do not fit the bit to high, so that the horse appears to be grinning. Do not fit the bit too low, so that the bit hits the horse's teeth.
