Eggbutt cheek bits stop the pinching which can be associated with loose ring bits. These bits are good for novice riders or horses that are fussy in their mouths, as the cheek reduces any subtle movements felt from the rein.This French Eggbutt bit is available in 4 1/2 and 5 inch sizes only make your selection from the pull down menu.
How to correctly adjust the height of your new bit. It is best to do most of the adjustment before putting the bridle on the horse so, put the bit onto the bridle then hold it up to the side of the horse's face. Then put the top of the headpiece level with the top of the horse's head (poll) and the mouthpiece of the bit level with the corner of the mouth. Next adjust
the bridle to fit. The cheekpieces should be adjusted, so that the bit lies in the correct position in the horse's mouth, i.e. leaving a little wrinkle at each corner of the mouth. Do not fit the bit to high, so that the horse appears to be grinning. Do not fit the bit too low, so that the bit hits the horse's teeth.
