Product Code: BI610Dutch gag bits are also known as continental gags or bubble bits. They are a cross between a pelham and a gag. The mouthpiece is free to move up in the horses mouth like a gag (but not as far). Dutch gags act on the poll with varying degrees of strength, depending upon which ring the reins are placed, the lower the ring the greater the strength.
This four ring Dutch gag bit with French link is available in two sizes, make your selection from the pull down menu.
Loose ring bits give a more subtle form of communication between horse and rider than fixed cheek bits, like eggbutt or full cheek bits.
Sizing Loose Ring Bits - there should be a 1/4" gap each side of the horse's face. Loose ring bit which are too narrow can nip the horse's lips because the cheek slides through the hole in the mouthpiece and the lips can be pulled into the gap. Please take care to get the sizing right, as we cannot take back used horse bits.
How to correctly adjust the height of your new bit. It is best to do most of the adjustment before putting the bridle on the horse so, put the bit onto the bridle then hold it up to the side of the horse's face. Then put the top of the headpiece level with the top of the horse's head (poll) and the mouthpiece of the bit level with the corner of the mouth. Next adjust
the bridle to fit. The cheekpieces should be adjusted, so that the bit lies in the correct position in the horse's mouth, i.e. leaving a little wrinkle at each corner of the mouth. Do not fit the bit to high, so that the horse appears to be grinning. Do not fit the bit too low, so that the bit hits the horse's teeth.
Established in the late eighteenth century (1700s) the Eldonian brand is one of the original and most respected names in riding hardware throughout the equestrian world. Eldonian is owned and marketed by Jeffries, under whose supervision only the finest stainless steel is used, to manufacture bits in a carefully-controlled engineering environment. This ensures that Eldonian stainless steel hardware meets the exacting standards of quality, strength, reliability and safety demanded by today's discerning riders.

Customers SayThanks for this lovely email. I wish you all the best for 2011 and the reason I chose to buy my husband's shepherd's crook from yourselves is that your interest and 'family approach' came through loud and clear on your website. I thought your products offered excellent value for their apparent quality - and I also found it very easy to negotiate your site and place an order.

Hi Sara, Just a quick email to say how surprised I was with your service! I was a little dubious to order my husband's Christmas present from you as your prices were so competitive... Thought it was too good to be true, ordered on c/c just in case! Parcel arrived this morning and it's lovely. I wasn't expecting it until next week some time. Truly brilliant service, a really pleasant surprise! Definitely not the norm these days!! Thank you.
