Gents' Plain Chesnut Crook Walking Stick

data-pin-do="buttonPin" data-pin-config="none">Gents' Plain Chesnut Crook Walking Stick 3121

Product Code: 3121

This chestnut chestnut crook is perhaps the most popular of all walking sticks. This gents' version is 92 cm (36 inches) in length. These walking sticks are great value for money.

Our chestnut sticks are obtained from coppiced woods. The raw material is peeled and steamed into the crook shape, forming the most traditional of sticks.

Coppicing is a traditional forestry technique and the method used to produce rustic walking sticks. A deciduous tree such as ash or chestnut is sawn in two, whereupon the part remaining rooted in the ground produces a number of new shoots. Within a few years, these grow large enough to form walking sticks. They are then cut from the tree and the process begins again.

The rounded handle of a knob stick is fashioned from part of the original tree's trunk; they do in fact grow upside down.

Thumbsticks are grown in the same way except that the V-shaped handle is formed by a naturally occurring fork in the new shoot.

Coppicing is the ultimate technique for sustainable woodland!

This walking stick can be cut down in size as required. Please select the required walking stick length from the pull down menu below. Please note that we will come as close as we can to the measurement you select but as this height includes the ferrule and thicknesses of ferrule vary, your walking stick my vary by up to 1/2 inch from the height selected. Please note once a stick has been cut to size we are unable to accept it back, so please be sure you are choosing the correct length.

To measure someone for a walking stick, ask them to stand with their weight evenly on both feet, looking straight ahead and with their arms relaxed by their sides. You then need to measure from the floor to the prominent bone of the wrist. This is the length of walking stick required. Please note this is just a rule of thumb. If the person has special needs, they may need to be measured by a medical professional. Alternatively they may have personal preferences for a longer or shorter walking stick.

Bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule type C
bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule type cThere are several different types of walking stick ferrule, most of which are listed here. Each ferrule is available in a number of different diameters, simply choose your preferred width from the pull down menu below. This bell shaped ferrule is our most popular shape. It is made of black rubber and has a steel washer insert. For people who use their walking stick in ernest, rather than just as a fashion accessory, good tread is vital. To ensure that your walking stick does not slip on wet or smooth surfaces, it is important to replace the rubber ferrule frequently. For those who have a decorative cane with a horn or metal ferrule, serious consideration should be given to covering this with a rubber ferrule, if the cane is to be used for support.

Thank you. Safely received. The new straps fit perfectly and look superb on the gun boxes.

Thank you for your prompt response for my order - I am thrilled as I bought this belt at Christmas in Selfridges and paid 41 pounds for it - I know my husband liked it so am buying it again for him (at a saving despite the 4+ pounds postage cost) - actually this order is for my dad who has lost weight and I will give the one I'd bought him to my husband.

You seem to have a nice range of products so I am copying this to my brother and sister and father so that they also have your details to hand should they require anything of a similar nature.

Thanks again, and I will loook forward to your emails, and to receiving the belt tomorrow.

Paul and Sara, What a brilliant service! My order was here at 9.25am today and now less than 24 hours since I ordered the new martingales are up on the wall in place of the two that broke. I'm so glad I found you on the internet earlier in the year. Many thanks, Anne.

Paul, Thank you for your very prompt delivery I have opted into your emails and recorded details of your site as I use the trekking poles to walk with my prosthetic and confess I seem to get through ferrules rather rapidly. It is even nicer to hear yours is a family run business, as I much prefer dealing with smaller especially family run businesses in the world of global enterprises. Many thanks Charlie.
