Gents' Plain Chesnut Crook Walking Stick
Product Code: 3121This chestnut chestnut crook is perhaps the most popular of all walking sticks. This gents' version is 92 cm (36 inches) in length. These walking sticks are great value for money.
Our chestnut sticks are obtained from coppiced woods. The raw material is peeled and steamed into the crook shape, forming the most traditional of sticks.
Coppicing is a traditional forestry technique and the method used to produce rustic walking sticks. A deciduous tree such as ash or chestnut is sawn in two, whereupon the part remaining rooted in the ground produces a number of new shoots. Within a few years, these grow large enough to form walking sticks. They are then cut from the tree and the process begins again.
The rounded handle of a knob stick is fashioned from part of the original tree's trunk; they do in fact grow upside down.
Thumbsticks are grown in the same way except that the V-shaped handle is formed by a naturally occurring fork in the new shoot.
Coppicing is the ultimate technique for sustainable woodland!
This walking stick can be cut down in size as required. Please select the required walking stick length from the pull down menu below. Please note that we will come as close as we can to the measurement you select but as this height includes the ferrule and thicknesses of ferrule vary, your walking stick my vary by up to 1/2 inch from the height selected. Please note once a stick has been cut to size we are unable to accept it back, so please be sure you are choosing the correct length.
To measure someone for a walking stick, ask them to stand with their weight evenly on both feet, looking straight ahead and with their arms relaxed by their sides. You then need to measure from the floor to the prominent bone of the wrist. This is the length of walking stick required. Please note this is just a rule of thumb. If the person has special needs, they may need to be measured by a medical professional. Alternatively they may have personal preferences for a longer or shorter walking stick.

|Bell shaped rubber walking stick ferrule type C|
There are several different types of walking stick ferrule, most of which are listed here. Each ferrule is available in a number of different diameters, simply choose your preferred width from the pull down menu below. This bell shaped ferrule is our most popular shape. It is made of black rubber and has a steel washer insert. For people who use their walking stick in ernest, rather than just as a fashion accessory, good tread is vital. To ensure that your walking stick does not slip on wet or smooth surfaces, it is important to replace the rubber ferrule frequently. For those who have a decorative cane with a horn or metal ferrule, serious consideration should be given to covering this with a rubber ferrule, if the cane is to be used for support.

Customers SayThe Brady Ariel bag arrived safely in Sydney yesterday. I am delighted with the quality of the bag, and once again wish to extend my thanks for your wonderful service in getting it to me so swiftly (all the way to other side of the planet). We have two house-guests staying at the moment, and both were very taken by the Brady workmanship and styling ..... plainly some things will always be successful, even after 80 or 90 years. I suspect there may be more orders coming at some point :-)Best Regards.

Hi Paul and Sara, Thanks for keeping me updated.
As a man who's constantly asked to fix things and with a wife with numerous handbags, I will almost certainly be in touch with you again!
Nice that there are still small family run businesses around, I would much rather support someone like yourselves than large faceless companies :)
