Antique Farriery Equipment - "Wooden Bull-dog Twitch for Use in Horses". Early 20th Century 34cm long. Each strut 3cm wide
Wooden bulldog twitch: Two grooved wooden struts jointed at one end with iron clips and link.
Was applied to the upper lip of a horse and free ends strapped together. The
original leather strap is included, but has perished with its great age. A
new strap is included also.
This twitch was used by an English farrier to restrain difficult or nervous
horses during shoeing in the first half of the 20th century.
